How does formGenie actually work?
Well this is a hidden trade secret that cannot be disclosed. Just kidding. It is a real simple concept actually. Normally, when someone submits a form online and that form is received in email, it is just plain-text and is in no particular format. Taking this data and putting it into your office forms must be done manually. With formGenie, the manual process is removed, and the data is “pre-formatted” into a format that your forms can understand (i.e. the Acrobat PDF format). When you receive your forms in email or in our document management system, it looks exactly like it would if you had typed the information in the form yourself. Neat isn’t it? If you want us to get more technical read our developers section.

Does formGenie store my data in a database?

By default, no. Since database design and platforms are unique to every business, formGenie is not burdened with worrying about your database infrastructure. Its job is to do one thing and do it well and that is create paperless forms. However we do provide custom database integration services so that your data is not only in your forms but also in your database. Visit our services overview section for more information.

Is the data secure?

The security level is dependent on your web site and infrastructure. At this time there is no encryption in the form but SSL (secure-socket layer) should be enabled in your web site and your browser (128-bit encryption preferred) for information that his highly sensitive. Visit our support section for more information.

Do I have to have the full version of Adobe Acrobat to use it?

Thankfully, no. We have to use Acrobat to design/program your forms but you are not required to purchase the full version of Acrobat. The free Acrobat Reader (soon to be named Adobe Reader in version 6) is satisfactory. Note: You will be required however to inform us if you want your forms to be read-only when you receive them or if you want the ability to change data.

What are the advantages of purchasing the full version Acrobat?
There are a couple. First you can change data and form field settings as your needs change. For example, if want the capability to turn off the read-only feature of the address fields in a form, you have that capability to do that with the full version of Acrobat. Also, minor changes to the design can be made. But remember, advance editing should be left to experts like us.

What about forms that require signatures? Can formGenie be used for these types of forms?
Yes. The PDF format supports digital signatures. Since <name federal acts> (http://www.epic.org/crypto/dss/) recognizes digital signatures as a legal signature, this form of signature can be used in your forms. Also if necessary, you can have your clients/customers login to verify who they are before submitting more sensitive information. This too is a form of signature.
